Description:
Manufacturer/Distributor: ALTER
As a packaging expert, ALTER stands out by offering a wide array of flexible and customizable solutions. By sourcing bare laser diode chips from multiple manufacturers, they can swiftly offer packages with diverse wavelengths and power levels, meeting agreed-upon performance specifications. This standardization results in no development costs and shorter lead times, delivering reliable modules in standard packages, ideal for OEMs and system integrators.
Laser Type: VCSEL
A Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) is a type of semiconductor laser diode that emits light vertically from the surface of the fabricated chip, unlike traditional edge-emitting lasers that emit light from the edge. This unique structure involves several layers, including an active region where light is generated, sandwiched between two highly reflective mirrors known as Distributed Bragg Reflectors (DBRs). These DBRs reflect the light back and forth through the active region, amplifying it before it exits perpendicularly from the surface of the chip.
Wavelength Range: IR
Wavelength Range: Infrared radiation typically spans wavelengths from about 700 nanometers (nm) to 1 millimeter (mm). This range can be further subdivided into near-infrared (NIR), mid-infrared (MIR), and far-infrared (FIR). Near-Infrared (NIR): 700 nm to 1.4 micrometers (µm) Mid-Infrared (MIR): 1.4 µm to 3 µm Far-Infrared (FIR): 3 µm to 1 mm
